Part doo-wop, part gospel and part Andrews Sisters, the song was a knuckle ball that somehow completed a period marked by the weirdest works of Elton John, and Paul McCartney as a Wing, among others. Year 2006 saw two releases: The Symphony Sessions, a collection of the band's hits rearranged for symphonies and pops orchestras, and The Definitive Pop Collection, a two-disc hodge-podge of the group's earlier songs.

Jacques Brel - Jackie (La Chanson De Jacky)

I knew that the Scott Walker version was a cover, seeing as how it appears on " Scott Walker Sings Jacques Brel ", but I was unaware that Bowie had covered it until I picked up a copy of the " Ziggy Stardust: 30th Anniversary " edition. I saw the Gainsbourg version on my computer (you can find it on " Jane Birkin et Serge Gainsbourg ") and then I remembered a Pulp song called "Manon" from some compilation of early tracks I picked up in Chicago a few years ago.
