The meetings, hosted by K-State Research and Extension, will address some of the unique circumstances currently impacting cattle producers and help position them for profitable production in 2008, said Sandy Johnson, K-State Research and Extension Northwest Area livestock specialist. Jim Mintert, K-State livestock marketing specialist will review the market data and address the implications of ethanol, weather and other factors on the cattle cycle, while providing a market outlook for 2008.

Waitrose plans dairy-bred bull calf scheme

Waitrose milk suppliers farms are to be finished for beef and veal in the UK under a new scheme announced this week. The new project is aimed to ensure that surplus calves from Waitrose s standard and organic milk producer groups can be reared within a fully integrated supply chain. It is claimed it will offer dairy farmers a guaranteed market at a fair price for calves reared and finished through the Waitrose supply chain.
