ATLANTA (February 25, 2008) Fernbank Museum of Natural History will soon unveil a 17-foot-long dugout canoe that was donated to the Museum by international forest products company Rayonier last year. Fernbank Museum spent a year preparing the canoe for display, including radio-carbon dating it, cleaning the water-logged wood and protecting the artifact with a chemical solution that replaced the water with natural oils. Museums 'Should Dispose Of Unwanted Items'

British museums are being urged to get rid of objects which are not being put on display, in order to make their collections more dynamic. The Museum Association said that items, which were not on display or being used for research, could become a "burden" and it is urging its 1,500 members to give any unused items to other museums or institutions or, in exceptional circumstances, sell them on the open market.

Treasures from FL forest digs to be displayed in April at Brockport

In Hector earlier this month for a meeting with the Backbone Ridge History Group, Wurst described the excavation sites where she and teams of students worked over summer breaks from the classroom. Backbone Ridge History Group agreed on a mission statement and established four committees: communications, oral history, documentary history, interpretation/education during its February meeting.

Saka Kurgans of Besshatyr - Kazakhstan
