NIPSCO offers rebates for energy efficient appliances

The new rebate program is for customers who take steps to make some of the appliances in their homes more energy efficient. It's one of NIPSCO's three new customer cost savings and energy conservation initiatives. For energy efficient thermostats, NIPSCO is giving customers a $20 rebate. I also think Nipsco should give rebates to people who have had new energy efficient furnaces put in within the past year. NIPSCO should give a bigger discount TO EVERYONE NOT ONLY FOR BUYING new applicances....

Bajaj Electricals net jumps on higher demand

MUMBAI (Reuters) - Lighting products and appliances maker Bajaj Electricals Ltd's net profit for the quarter to December rose 90 percent on allround performance, a senior official said on Thursday. Its appliances business rose 40 percent, lighting, fans and engineering and projects business grew 30 percent, while revenue from luminaires grew 20 percent. Net profit for the Oct-Dec quarter rose to 189 million rupees, while net sales rose 29 percent to 3.65 billion rupees.

Environment and WEEE drive small appliance business growth

The waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) directive is part of a trend towards greater focus on the environment which has helped push sales of domestic electrical appliances, according to a Research and Markets report. According to the new report, sales in the small appliances market, which include kitchen appliances, personal-care appliances and non-kitchen devices such as hand-held vacuum cleaners, are driven in part by greater awareness of environmental concerns.

Euro MPs back patio heaters ban

A climate change expert commissioned by the UK's biggest supplier of one of the fuels used by patio heaters, liquefied petroleum gas, Calor, said the overall impact of the heaters on emissions was "very minimal". Dr Eric Johnson, National Expert Reviewer for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, said that plasma TVs produced more carbon than patio heaters under normal usage patterns.
