Consumer Reports just tested two washing machines with steam modes from Kenmore and Whirlpool. While the washers did better at removing stains when using the steam setting, they still cleaned very well even without the steam.

What you have to be careful of is if your appliance does not convert power, such as your flat iron, then you need a converter. Most flat irons do not have dual voltage and I've heard they will fry with the higher voltage, even using a converter. The only other flat iron I could find her that converted power was around $150. I don't know a heck of a lot about these things, a woman I work with has traveled to a lot of different countries and has told me that flat irons are one of the trickiest...
