So, where's the beef? Not in local schools
Feb. 26
CHUCK HAUPT / Press & Sun-Bulletin Anna Bronikowski, with Johnson City Schools food service, serves elementary students chicken patties on Monday, replacing the beef patties that were originally on the menu. "It's going to be awhile before I serve it (beef patties)," said Fran Pierson, director of the food services program for the Chenango Forks School District, which had to throw out seven cases of patties. Some people may question the decision to throw away the beef because the health risk was low, said Ray Denniston, director of the food service program in the Johnson City School District. Nor will the district accept products from Pierre until the food company switches to a different producer as promised, the supervisor of food services said.
