Group fights laws that ban breaking it down

Tisch senior Chelsea Bonosky, a dance major, said she was once told by a cop in a bar that she could not dance there because the bar did not have a dancing license. Last year, in an effort to bring awareness and appreciation of dance to the people of New York, the first annual Dance Parade twisted and tangoed down Broadway, ending at Washington Square Park. Bitar said they are taking as many volunteers as possible to help out as "spacers" between floats in the parade or as "dance police" who ticket people who are not dancing. Tisch sophomore Liz Beres, a dance major, said she would be interested in participating in the Dance Parade and supports the fight to repeal the outdated laws.
