BRUSSELS (Thomson Financial) - The European Court of Justice (ECJ), Europe's highest court, dismissed the infringement proceedings brought against Germany by the European Commission for failing to protect the protected designation of origin (PDO) status of 'Parmigiano Reggiano' cheese. 'Since the Commission has not established that the German legal system does not sufficiently protect the PDO 'Parmigiano Reggiano', the infringement proceedings against Germany are dismissed,' the ECJ said in a statement.
