Police on trial for wedding day shooting
Feb. 25
The shots from the three officers that led to the death of Sean Bell, 23, on November 25 2006 reopened wounds between the New York police department and black communities and led to accusations of excessive police force. The senior prosecutor, Charles Testagrossa, said one of the three detectives had failed to show his police badge visibly to Bell and had gone on to confront the victim and two of his friends outside the Kalua Cabaret strip club in Queens without waiting to call for back-up.
