California Lawmakers Hear Testimony on Beef Recall
Feb. 25
At a hearing at the State Capitol Monday, a representative from the National Meat Association called the largest beef recall in U.S. history an "overreaction," even saying that beef was safe to eat. "That product is not a health risk," said Rosemary Mucklow of the National Meat Association. "The risk of human illness is low," said attorney William Marler who represented some of the 700 people who got sick or died in the infamous Jack-in-the-Box E.
