Bagna caulda warms the masses in Cle Elum

Residents of Cle Elum make their way through the lines to receive bagna caulda at the Eagles Hall on Saturday. It's also for fun, friends and family - all of which were in good supply at Saturday's Bagna Caulda Festival at the Cle Elum Eagles Hall. The Italian market featured vendors from Cle Elum Candy, Glondo's Sausage Company, KitchenSink of Roslyn, and baked goods from Cle Elum's own Verna Mattielli. No matter, Verna's great-granddaughters Angelina Nicholson and Rosanna Talerico, both of Cle Elum, staffed the table on her behalf for the second straight year. Patti Nicholson said people came from as far away as Granger, Lynnwood and Puyallup for the event, which also drew 'a lot of Lower Valley people, which was nice.'
