Congress may need to intervene on behalf of beef producers

Various farm groups have joined together to insist the U.S. government take stronger action against "Argentina's pattern of defiance of international norms, from the country's debt repudiation to its unfair agricultural practices." We feel, as do these farm groups, that Argentina needs to work with the U.S. to show they are willing to address the problems with their economy and how those problems are affecting U.S. taxpayers, cattlemen and ranchers, and educators. While the loan default doesn't necessarily mean Argentina cannot be trusted to keep FMD from entering the U.S. as some say, it certainly does raise some doubts and questions.
