2007 Year in Review: Highlights in local entertainment

Welcome to The Pacific Daily News on Guam. Best known for their ballad, "The Reason," guitarists Dan Estrin and Josh Moreau, drummer Chris Hesse and lead vocalist Doug Robb rocked the University of Guam field house on Jan. 13 as part of an international tour to promote their album "Every Man for Himself." 2007 was a hallmark year for auto show fans with Guam's first Hot Import Nights igniting the Circle K/76 drag strip in February. Katchafire gave two concerts on Guam this year, in April at Jeff's Pirates Cove and again in September at the Guam amusement park. Filipino stars made several noteworthy appearances on our island this year, with Gary Valenciano putting on a high-octane show in September to a full-capacity crowd at the University of Guam field house. Namamasko Po Sa Guam" show, which packed the field house from the floor to the topmost bleachers. The host of the popular Filipino variety show "Wowowee" Willie Revillame, came to Guam along with comedienne Pokwang, actress Ara Mina, singer Camo Lito, comedians Eric and Tuco and Anna Santos Feliciano dancers Luningning, Mariposa and Milagring. Frontman Francisco "Bamboo" Manalac, guitarist Ira Cruz, drummer Vic Mercado and bassist Nathan Azarcon rocked the UOG field house in May. The world held a collective breath as the Harry Potter series drew to a close with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," and Guam was no exception.
